Love. Hygge. Happy.
Like most great things, this all started with love. Not the romance kind of love that you expect in an adorable indie flick. This love was, perhaps, even greater. What at first seemed like a textbook case of kindred spirits turned into something more- bosom friendship. (L.M. Montgomery readers will know just how great this is). The friendship blossomed between Elisabeth and I and our bond was immediate. The spark that really fueled the fire?
Hygge
I was already knee deep in it, wading further and further in. Elisabeth had never heard of it (surprising since her father is VERY Danish and Hygge is a Danish concept). I certainly don’t have the authority or expertise to provide a thorough introduction to hygge. For that I recommend reading Meik Wiking’s book “The Little Book of Hygge”. But for the sake of this post I will just say that Hygge is the concept of coziness, shared with friends and loved ones (though personal Hygge is a thing too!). We started to share Hygge whenever we got the chance. Our favorite way to hygge is a cup of tea and conversation in the short time between work and parenting.
The need and want for Hygge was palpable. And the shared love for it bonded us even more. Hygge can be applied in all the aspects of your life (#goals). Sharing Hygge with someone is the perfect time to talk, so it stands to reason that we began learning a lot from each other. Elisabeth is a single mom of four beautiful kids ages ranging from elementary to high school, my husband and I have two girls under five. While parenting/family is often the topic of conversation we also discuss things like sustainable/responsible living, personal/mental health, and relationships. We’re both self-help junkies and thought “what if we could break into that self-help universe”
So- it all started with two ladies who LOVEd each other and shared HYGGE which made them HAPPY. Now we want to share ourselves and our hygge with the world.
